The City of Pittsfield announced Oct. 8 that its Community Preservation Committee is opening a new funding cycle under the Community Preservation Act (CPA) and will hold a related public hearing this month.

The hearing is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, in Room 203 on the second floor of City Hall, 70 Allen Street. It concerns the use of CPA funds and the city's priorities under the Community Preservation Plan.

Separately, the committee has opened the project eligibility application process for a new year of CPA funding. Eligibility applications are due by 3 p.m. on Nov. 20. The committee will give an overview of previous CPA allocations and is seeking public input on community priorities as it begins soliciting projects for funding.

The application process has two steps. The first determines whether a project is eligible for CPA funds under Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 44B, using a digital application available on the Community Preservation Committee webpage. Projects confirmed eligible will then be invited to submit funding applications in early 2027.

The Community Preservation Plan and the eligibility application are both linked on the Community Preservation Committee page.
