Zoning Board grants sign exception for Bella Nissan at West Housatonic

Zoning Board of Appeals · Meeting of April 15, 2026

PITTSFIELD — The Zoning Board of Appeals unanimously approved a sign exception for Bella Nissan to maintain a preexisting pylon sign and allow 134 square feet total gross signage at 25 West Housatonic Street. Chair Albert Ingegni III, Tom Goggins, Esther Anderson, Cory Evangelisto, and Allyson Holmes also voted 5–0 to grant a special permit for Winadu Real Estate Co. LLC to construct a 24-by-34-foot golf simulator building at 710 Churchill Street, conditioning its use exclusively for the simulator after neighbors raised concerns about potential conversion to an event space.

City Planner Kevin Rayner briefed the board on a proposed Battery Energy Storage Systems Ordinance; the board agreed it should grant special permits for BESS applications to align with its solar permitting authority.
