Pittsfield ordinance panel approves councilor address removal for safety

Ordinance Review Committee · Meeting of April 27, 2026

Pittsfield's ordinance committee unanimously approves councilor address removal and lake management measure. The five-member Committee on Ordinances & Rules voted to remove home addresses from city documents and replace them with a municipal office address at 70 Allen Street, citing safety concerns for elected officials. The panel also unanimously approved creation of a new Lake Management Commission to coordinate oversight of city lakes and great ponds including Silver Lake and Goodrich Pond.

Fee schedule updates adding Fire Department charges were approved, with clerk Heather Brazeau noting that clerk fees have not increased in 25 years and the city is losing money on dog tag services. The committee tabled a long-pending junk car removal ordinance and postponed action on presentment notice notifications to elected officials.
