Parks Commission elects Simon Muil as chair; approves five park events.

PITTSFIELD — Parks Commission elects Simon Muil as chair in unanimous vote. Muil replaces Paula Albro, who was serving as chair at the January 20 meeting. The board also unanimously approved five park events for 2026: the Winter Festival on February 16 at Clapp Park; 10x10 Fireworks on February 21 at The Common; the Pittsfield Farmers Market from May 9 to October 10 at The Common; BEAT 2026 events at Springside and Riverway Parks on February 14 and May 23; and the Lake Onota Family Ice Fishing Festival on February 28 at Burbank Park.
The Berkshire County Out of the Darkness Walk was tabled to the February meeting. Wahconah Park renovations, budgeted at roughly $17 million, are moving toward demolition and construction bids, with work expected to begin in July and the park ready for the 2027 season.
