Pittsfield's Homelessness Advisory Committee unanimously approved prior minutes and heard from the Three County Continuum of Care on federal funding shifts and the January 25 winter point-in-time count. Michele LaFleur, Data and Evaluation Manager, reported that the Department of Housing and Urban Development has ordered a renewal process for FY2024 awards after federal litigation, and described a major policy pivot away from permanent supportive housing toward shelter-based models. Committee members noted The Pearl shelter is full, the Warming Center is operating at record nightly occupancy through April 19, and the Onota Shelter has 27 family slots available.
Vice Chair Justine Dodds warned that the federal policy shift "has very real implications for Pittsfield."
