Homelessness Advisory Committee · Meeting of February 4, 2026

Pittsfield's Homeless Advisory Committee unanimously approved prior minutes and heard from Gabriela Leon, the new City Social Worker for the Berkshire Atheneum, about her plans to build trauma-informed staff training and expanded services at the library. Leon has already established relationships with patrons and connected young adults to mentorship programs; starting the following week, providers from agencies including The Brien Center will staff the library Monday through Friday. The First, a new facility offering restrooms, showers, laundry, and lockers, opened for soft operation Tuesday through Saturday and has attracted approximately 12 users.

Housing development on First Street and West Housatonic Street continues.
