Historical Commission approves demolition of 1880 Bradford Street home

Pittsfield Historical Commission unanimously approves demolition of vacant 1880 Bradford Street residence. Mia Giardina of Allstar Excavation presented the application for the wood-frame single-family home, uninhabited for a decade, which sits alongside a commercial building that will remain. In separate business, staff member Kevin Rayner reported that a local historic district study committee petition for the Park Square district has cleared the Ordinance and Rules Committee and advances to City Council; if approved, he will recruit board representatives and at-large members.
The commission reviewed a feasibility study for the state-owned William Russell Allen House and authorized formation of Friends of the William Russell Allen House, a non-city advocacy group to explore emergency repairs and secure funding.
