Council subcommittee approves Historic District Study Committee and Rule changes.

PITTSFIELD — City Council subcommittee clears Historic District Study Committee and three Rule amendments. The Ordinances & Rules Subcommittee unanimously approved a petition from the Pittsfield Historical Commission establishing an 18-month Local Historic District Study Committee to examine preservation feasibility; the seven-member panel will include recommendations from the American Institute of Architects, Board of Realtors, and Historic Commission, with mayoral selection. Councilor Lampiasi's amendment to City Council Rule 1C requiring name and municipality of residence--aligning Pittsfield with Boston, Springfield, Worcester, New Bedford, and Holyoke--also passed unanimously, as did Councilor Warren's correction to Rule 26 separating Standing and Special Committees.
Two mayoral communications, on fee schedules and a Lake Management Commission, were tabled to the next meeting.
