Pittsfield Conservation Commission approves algae-control barge pilot with conditions. Vice Chair Thomas Sakshaug led the meeting as the commission issued Order of Conditions for Clear Waterways Group's dissolved air flotation barge on North Street and Hancock Road, a patented technology designed to remove algae sludge from the top six to eight inches of water. The City of Pittsfield withdrew two applications without prejudice and continued three others, including a Guidewire group home project on Cascade Street facing resident concerns over ongoing litigation and potential water contamination.
The commission also issued determinations for fence removal, sign installation, and supermarket-to-restaurant conversion, and approved three Certificates of Compliance for prior permitted work.
