Pittsfield Community Development Board approves two non-subdivision determinations and special permit. The board unanimously granted relief from side and rear setback requirements for Hurricane Properties, LLC at 2 Monteleone Place, 139 Second Street, and 0 Second Street, allowing the creation of three individually owned residential parcels from a single ownership. City planner Kevin Rayner presented a comprehensive Battery Energy Storage Systems ordinance framework restricting medium- and large-scale BESS to industrial zones while allowing small-scale systems in residential areas, with the Zoning Board of Appeals as the permitting authority.

The board agreed that BESS on brownfield properties could be allowed by special permit even in normally prohibited areas, provided setbacks from residences are maintained.
