PITTSFIELD — Public Works Committee approves snow operations report amid staffing shortages. Commissioner Ricardo Morales presented FY25 operational data showing 4.5 feet of snow, 35 operational events, and 13 ice events, with contractor hours at 4,100 and overtime at 4,300 to date. The department faces acute contractor availability challenges and a statewide shortage of commercial-driver-licensed operators; the water treatment plant alone is short seven employees despite months of recruitment.

The committee voted unanimously to approve the report. Councilors Conant, Cunningham, Warren, and Wrinn were present; Moody was absent.
