PITTSFIELD — The Pittsfield Board of Health voted unanimously to order demolition of three long-abandoned properties. Acting Chairperson Jeffery A. Leppo led the board in approving orders for 154 Francis Avenue (vacant since 2021, condemned 2022), 48-50 Brown Street (damaged by a 2018 fire, condemned), and 242-244 Wahconah Street (vacant for years, condemned 2015).
All three properties are controlled by owners who have taken no action to rehabilitate them. The Health Department promoted Community Health Worker Gabrielle DiMassimo to Program Manager. Berkshire County Mosquito Control reported early West Nile virus detection in June, with ongoing catch-basin treatment and larval-control efforts throughout the city.
