Board of Health affirms tobacco permit revocation for Berkshire Pipe & Tobacco.

Pittsfield Board of Health unanimously upheld the revocation of Berkshire Pipe & Tobacco's tobacco permit. Owner Nipul Saluja appeared to apologize for failing to attend the December hearing but disputed violations; Chairperson Roberta Elliot and Board Members Jeffrey Leppo, Andrew Plager, and David Pill rejected reinstatement, citing the store's repeated failures to comply with suspension conditions and prior violations. In a separate action, the Board declined to recommend a camping ordinance to City Council, instead endorsing a community-based approach including a HIPAA-compliant data system, two new community health worker positions, and UMass evaluation resources.
